Identity Checks
Anyone opening a Chatham Casino account or moving money through it should read this page. It applies at sign-up, before your first deposit, before withdrawals and whenever our checks call for it later. Below we describe what we verify, the reasons, and the next steps.
Why do you verify my identity?
1.1 Local law must permit play before we accept a player, and we follow Canadian rules on age checks, identity and anti-money laundering.
1.2 These checks prove you are 19+, confirm your identity matches your account details, and show you play from a location we accept.
1.3 They also protect your account. Verified details make it far harder for anyone else to use your balance or payment methods.
What happens if my verification fails?
2.1 Until verification is done, we may pause deposits, bets and withdrawals.
2.2 Document missing, unreadable or different from the details on your account? An email from us lists what is needed. When it comes in, the checks pick up where they left off.
2.3 Where we cannot verify you, or where documents prove false, the account is closed. Any balance owed is handled in line with our Account Terms and Canadian law.
Records we keep and reports we file
3.1 We keep identity documents, account details and records of transactions for as long as Canadian law requires.
3.2 Where the law requires it, transactions that are large or suspicious get reported to the relevant authorities. The law may stop us from telling you a report was filed.
3.3 Our Personal Data Policy explains the storage and protection of these records.
When might I be asked where my money comes from?
4.1 Higher deposit levels, unusual patterns or activity that does not match your profile lead us to request proof of where your money comes from.
4.2 Useful documents: bank statements, recent payslips, or papers proving a property sale, an inheritance or savings.
4.3 Play can be paused until the information is in hand and checked.
Do you screen for PEPs and sanctions?
5.1 Every account is screened against politically exposed person (PEP) lists, which also include their relatives and close associates.
5.2 We also check every account against Canadian and international sanctions lists.
5.3 A match does not always end the relationship, but it brings extra checks. Where the law prohibits dealing with someone, we do not open or keep the account.
Do checks stop after sign-up?
6.1 No. Deposits, play and withdrawals are monitored continuously.
6.2 New checks can be triggered by a change of payment method, a change of address, a large withdrawal or activity that looks out of pattern.
6.3 We may also refresh documents that have expired.
How do you check my age and identity, and what documents do I send?
7.1 Signing up means giving us your email, home address, birth date and full name. We then check them against trusted data sources.
7.2 If an electronic match does not succeed, please upload:
- A current photo ID from a government body, for instance your driver's licence or your passport
- Proof of address from recent months, for instance your bank statement or a utility bill, listing your name alongside your home address
- Proof of ownership for the e-wallet or card you use to pay
7.3 Send clear colour images with all four corners visible. Hide the middle digits of any card number.
7.4 Geolocation runs before any deposit to confirm where you are playing.
How do I get in touch?
8.1 Send documents or questions to support@chathamcasino.app. Our Account Terms and Personal Data Policy have more detail.
